Banks Get $1.15B More In Infusions

WASHINGON-Treasury last week said it had made an additional $1.15 billion of infusions into 42 banks through its Capital Purchase Program. The agency has so far made $195.33 billion in capital injections for 359 institutions in 45 states and Puerto Rico. Among the banks getting the latest injections were Farmers and Merchants Bank in Nebraska, Firstbank Corp. in Michigan, PrivateBancorp Inc. in Illinois, and Flagstar Bancorp Inc. in Troy, Mich.

Callis New NIHFCU CEO

ROCKVILLE, Md.- National Institutes of Health Federal Credit Union (NIHFCU) has named Juli Anne Callis as its new CEO, succeeding Lindsay A. Alexander, who retired after nearly 20 years at the helm of the CU. A 20-year veteran of CUs, Callis was most recently senior VP with Keypoint CU, Santa Clara, Calif.

PCUA Adds 2 Spots To iBelong Campaign

HARRISBURG, Penn.-The Pennsylvania CU Association has added two new spots to its iBelong credit union awareness campaign. The ads are also available in Illinois and Mississippi, where the respective leagues have licensed the campaign. The new spots tout a safety and soundness message.

Deadline Is March 2 For WOCCU Awards

MADISON, Wis.-The deadline is March 2 for nominations for World Council of Credit Unions' (WOCCU) Distinguished Service Award (DSA), which is given to individuals and organizations that have offered exemplary service to the credit union movement and its practices. The DSA honor is not given every year; its presentation is governed by the viability and worthiness of candidates in the eyes of the judges.

'Miracle Match' Donates $520K To CMN

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif.-CO-OP Financial Services reported its "Miracle Match" donated more than $520,000 in 2008 to the Children's Miracle Network "Credit Unions for Kids" program. More than 70 credit unions participated in the matching program, including the Arizona Credit Union League (ACUL) whose highly successful fundraiser last November helped put Miracle Match $20,000 over its $500,000 goal. For 2009, Miracle Match will be donating $1 million to Children's Miracle Network, the non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children's hospitals.
