LAFCU Offers Rebates At Car Dealerships
LOS ANGELES-Los Angeles Federal Credit Union (LAFCU) is offering a variety of discounted vehicles and special factory rebates at nearly 20 Southern California car dealerships. From April 3 to May 17, LAFCU members will have the chance to plant a low 5.75% Annual Percentage Rate (APR) on a new vehicle or a 6.25% APR on a used vehicle. Up to 100% vehicle financing is available with up to 84 months to repay. LAFCU also offers extended terms, no money down options. The CU is also hosting a $500 gas gift card raffle.
CUNA Council Honors Marketing Executives
MADISON, Wis.-The CUNA Marketing and Business Development Council honored Mary Olson, Kathryn Davis, and Nancy Hutchinson for their credit union marketing and business development achievements.
Mary Olson, VP of marketing for Delta Community CU in Atlanta, was inducted into the council's Hall of Fame, having recently led Delta CCU through an extensive rebranding effort.
Kathryn Davis, SVP of marketing for Xceed Financial CU in El Segundo, Calif., won the Marketing Professional of the Year Award. Davis headed up a major rebranding and name change.
Nancy Hutchinson, SVP of marketing and business development for Minnesota Power Employees CU in Duluth, Minn., was presented with the Business Development Professional of the Year Award.
Chatzky To Keynote CUES Convention
MADISON, Wis.-Award-winning journalist, author and motivational speaker Jean chatzky will keynote CUES' annual convention.
Chatzky, who is the financial editor for NBC's Today and a contributor to The Oprah Winfrey Show, will speak on "Recession Busting 101." She will share her insights on current economic challenges.

Metro CU Absorbs Boston Globe ECU
BOSTON-Boston Globe Employees Credit Union is being absorbed via merger by the $732-million Metro Credit Union. The 2,343-member BGECU lost $316,438 in 2008, and posted losses in 2006 and 2007. Delinquencies have also increased. Metro CU closed 2008 with $2.3 million in net income.
