Funds Being Raised For Slain Officers' Families
PITTSBURGH-The Greater Pittsburgh Police FCU is accepting donations to its Pittsburgh Fallen Heroes memorial fund in memory of three Pittsburgh police officers who were tragically killed in a shooting here.
Two of the victims, Eric Kelly and Stephen Mayhle, were members of the credit union."We've gotten calls all morning with donations," said Sandra Lazzara, manager/CEO. This has really touched us all. Everyone knows everyone here. The loss is devastating to the police department. We're doing everything we can to help."
According to local press reports, the shooting took place on Saturday, when they responding to domestic abuse call at a residence. The gunman, Richard Parks, 23, was arrested and is being charged for the deaths.

3 Iowa CU Reps Appointed To Review Board
DES MOINES, Iowa-Three Iowa CU representatives have been appointed to positions on the Credit Union Review Board within the Department of Commerce, Credit Union Division: Dave Cale, CEO of Financial Plus CU of Des Moines, and Tim Marcsisak, CEO of Nishna Valley Credit Union of Atlantic, were confirmed to two open positions, while Denise Dolan, Board Chair of Dupaco Community Credit Union of Dubuque, was also reappointed to her position. The terms will run through April 30, 2012.
NAFCU Mourns Loss Of Robin Johnston
ARLINGTON, Va.-Robin M. Johnston, a long-time employee of NAFCU and publisher and managing editor of The Federal Credit Union has died of breast cancer. Ms. Johnston joined NAFCU in April 1986 and became the managing editor of The Federal Credit Union (TFCU) in January 1989. "Through the years, she showed an unwavering commitment and dedication to the credit union community, NAFCU's members and the NAFCU staff that was both admirable and contagious," said NAFCU President Fred Becker. "We will all remember Robin best for the words she wrote in each issue of TFCU in her 'Up Front' column," Becker continued. "Her last column was entitled 'We have been blessed.'" Donations may be made on behalf of Johnston to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Conn. League Raises $25K For Dues Discount
MERIDEN, Conn.-Thanks to contributions from its business partners, the Connecticut Credit Union Solutions Foundation, and the League's dues-discount program, has exceeded its goal of $25,000. The league's support fund was created as a part of its 2009 strategic plan to bring in more participation from small CUs in training, education and compliance. "Any support we can provide them strengthens the entire credit union movement," said Connecticut League President Tony Emerson.
