League Offers Teaching Session
DUBLIN, Ohio-The Ohio Credit Union League became the first league in the nation to offer a session that trains credit union personnel how to teach high school students about financial management. In cooperation with CUNA and the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE), the league's Credit Union Development Department hosted more than 75 people in an all-day session that prepared credit union staffers and others to incorporate financial education into their local school districts' curricula. Representatives from other credit union leagues were also in attendance.
The trained credit union representatives will now work with local school districts to incorporate classroom presentations into math classes, home economics classes, and other courses during the 2000-2001 school year. The presentations will be tracked and analyzed in quarterly networking sessions throughout Ohio and reported to the Credit Union National Association's Youth Involvement Board.
