Butler To Treasury Position
WASHINGTON-John Butler, a former executive assistant to former NCUA board member Shirlee Bowne, has been named deputy executive secretary in the Treasury Department's Office of Domestic Finance. Butler will be responsible for reviewing and clearing policy matters for Domestic Finance Under Secretary Robert Steel. Butler is married to Holly Herman, former senior advisor and chief of staff to current NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson.
Hyland Observer At FDIC Event
ALEXANDRIA, Va.-NCUA Board Member Gigi Hyland attended as an observer the inaugural meeting of the FDIC's Advisory Committee on Economic Inclusion, designed to share insights, recommendations, and best practices in order to provide traditional financial services to underserved populations.

DE Waiting List Expands
MADISON, Wis.-The National Credit Union Foundation said it has expanded the waiting list for the Credit Union Development Education training scheduled for August at IslandWood near Seattle. The April DE training in Madison, Wis. has sold out, with 42 people enrolled. For info: www.ncuf.coop.
BizKids Makes Its Debut
SEATTLE-"Biz Kid$," the PBS program aimed at helping kids to become more financially astute, debuted on Sunday, April 8 at 9 a.m. Credit unions have made substantial donations to underwriting the program and will be featured where appropriate. The program is being launched in conjunction with Junior Achievement and the producers of the Bill Nye the Science Guy program.
N.M. OKs Payday Loan Limits
SANTE FE, N.M.-Gov. Bill Richardson has signed a payday lending bill that prohibits renewals and rollovers of payday loans, requires automatic 130-day payment plans for those unable to pay on time, imposes a 10-day "cooling off" period before borrowers can borrow again, and prohibits loans that exceed 25% of borrowers' gross monthly income.
