Hyland To Moderate Web Seminar
ALEXANDRIA, Va–NCUA Board Member Gigi Hyland will moderate a web seminar Jan. 29 titled “Key Examination Issues for 2008: Evaluation of 3rd Party Relationships and Strategic Planning.”
The focus will be on the practical implications of the recently released Letter to Credit Unions on Evaluation Third Party Relationships (07-CU-13) and address strategic planning considerations for management and boards.

WOCCU Calls For Nominations
MADISON, Wis.–The World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) is calling for nominations for its two leading awards programs, the Distinguished Service Award (DSA) and the WOCCU Young Credit Union People (WYCUP) Scholarship Program. WOCCU said the DSA is the most distinguished award presented to honor contributions to the global credit union movement, and is presented both to individuals and institutions that have offered exemplary service to the credit union movement and its practices.
It is not given every year and its presentation is governed by the viability and worthiness of candidates in the eyes of the judges. All presentations will be made at WOCCU’s World Credit Union Conference July 13-16 in Hong Kong.
In the case of individuals, recipients may be WOCCU and member organization officers, directors or representative; international credit union pioneers; field technicians with a long and outstanding service record; or persons whose actions have benefitted global credit union development, WOCCU said.

Former CU Leader Marin Has Died
CHELSEA, Mich.–Kenneth J. Marin, who served as chairman of the Michigan league from 1960-63 and was later chairman of CUNA from 1964-66, has died.
Among Marin’s accomplishments, was appointment by President Lyndon Johnson to the White House Consumer Advisory Council, and election to the Michigan Credit Union Hall of Fame.
