UN FCU Commits $500K To CDCUs
LONG ISLAND, N.Y.–The United Nations FCU became the first credit union in the nation to participate in the Community Development Investment Program (CDIP) of the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions (Federation) with a commitment to donate $500,000 to the program that raises investments for placement in low-income credit unions.
The investment is the latest in a series of initiatives the $2.5-billion CU has undertaken to help CDCUs upgrade their operations and expand their services, the Federation said.

Greylock Advocates For Seniors
PITTSFIELD, Mass.–Greylock FCU has launched a petition drive to urge state officials to ensure the new system of managed competition for auto insurance doesn’t end up hurting senior citizens’ ability to obtain affordable coverage.
By statute, seniors have been receiving a 25% discount on their auto insurance. Greylock has expressed concern that the new system will do away with this discount and is gathering signatures on a petition to be delivered to state officials urging their support in protecting seniors.
The credit union managed to gather more than 1,000 signatures at its branches in just a matter of weeks.
Wash. Celebrates 75 Years Of CUs
FEDERAL WAY, WASH.–As the Washington CU League celebrates its 75th anniversary, the association has established the Historic Preservation Task Force to compile a history of the industry in Washington.
The task force, led by WCUL President Emeritus Bruce Rouillard, is seeking interviews and contributions–including photographs, newspaper clippings, marketing collateral and other material–to this effort.
