Webinars On Secondary Market

SAN FRANCISCO-CMG Mortgage Insurance Company (CMG MI) will offer two 90-minute webinars that offer practical guidance on using the secondary mortgage market to improve liquidity. Titled "Fundamentals of the Secondary Market" and "Secondary Marketing Economics," the sessions will provide instruction regarding the alternative approaches, necessary resources, management of investor relationships and best practices required for successful participation in the secondary mortgage loan market. Strunk & Assoc. Mourns Loss

HOUSTON-William "Bill" Strunk, founder of Strunk & Associates, has died following a battle with leukemia. Mr. Strunk was 69. He founded the consulting firm that bears his name in 1976, with the company emerging as one of the leading providers of overdraft protection programs, in its case, Overdraft Privilege Service Program. Today the company has more than 2,000 clients using its overdraft product.

 

Scholarships Are Available

MADISON, Wis.-Employees of CUs that belong to the Texas, New York, Arizona and Florida/Alabama leagues are eligible to apply for scholarships to participate in the World Council of CU's Spanish Immersion Program, which this year will take place in San Jose, Costa Rica. The program begins Oct. 2; the early bird discount is available through June 30.

Faust Announces Retirement

MADISON, Wis.-Andy Faust, CEO of the $1.4-billion Summit Credit Union, said he will retire effective Sept. 30, 2010. Kim Sponem, president of Summit, will take over as President/CEO on Oct 1. Faust began with credit unions as a teller at State Capitol Employees CU in 1976 (today it is Summit) when it had $1.4 million in assets.

 

LUA For New York CU

ALEXANDRIA, Va.-NCUA has published a Letter of Understanding and Agreement (LUA) with the $360-million Sperry Associates FCU, Garden City Park, N.Y., that identifies corrective actions needed to be taken at the credit union. The agency cited declining capital, participation lending losses, potential unrecognized investment losses, inadequate due diligence, and inadequate testing of high risk areas.

 

Program Adds New Discounts

LIVONIA, Mich.-Invest in America is now offering discounts to credit union members who make a purchase from among the more than 1,200 merchants at the online mall Shop America. Discounts of up to 15% will be available from companies such as Apple, Target, Best Buy, Macy's and more, with members mailed a check when the accumulated cash back from all merchants is $10 or more. Invest in America is offered by CUcorp.

 

'Great CU Contest' Is Open

ARLINGTON, Va.- NAFCU Services Corp. is sponsoring "The Great Credit Union Contest," which offers CU members the opportunity to share what makes their credit union great and compete for an assortment of prizes, including $500 Discover gift cards. Contestants may enter a video or written essay. The contest runs through July 7.
