Bill Would Recognize Mexican IDs

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Texas Congressman Rub?n Hinojosa has introduced legislation to help Mexican nationals access the (U.S.)Banking System. H.R. 773, the "21st Century Access to Banking Act" will allow Mexican nationals with specialized identification, otherwise known as matricula consulars, issued by Mexican Consulates to gain access to U.S. financial institutions for the purposes of opening accounts. Hinojosa introduced the legislation Feb. 13. Since its introduction, the bill has already garnered the support of 14 cosponsors.

Rau Named Woman of the Year

FLINT, Mich.-Lynn Rau, business development representative for Dort FCU here, has been named Woman of the Year by the Li-Tah-Ni Chapter of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA). Rau's professional responsibilities include being a liaison for the credit union and nearly 400 SEGs, and nearly 100 Indirect Finance Partners who provide on-site Dort Federal financing for member purchases. Rau is also active in several community groups and has hosted six foreign exchange students in nine years.

NY League A WOCCU Supporter

ALBANY, N.Y.-The New York State Credit Union League, Inc. and Affiliates (NYSCUL) has become a "Supporter" of the World Council of Credit Unions, Inc. (WOCCU) NYSCUL joined WOCCU to expand access for New York credit unions to useful products and services, as well as to support the credit union movement worldwide. "The league has much to gain by joining WOCCU," said Susan Landauer, Senior VP-member services. "The combination of content and services WOCCU offers creates a very strong value proposition for our credit unions. In addition, our membership aids WOCCU in enabling millions of people to grow and gain access to affordable financial services throughout the world."
