CUES Adds Second Sales School

MADISON, Wis.-Due to demand, CUES said it will hold a second School of Sales and Service this year. The second session is scheduled for Oct. 14-16 at The St. Anthony hotel in San Antonio. The school features Michael Neill of Michael Neill & Associates , Atlanta, and consultant Constance Anderson who will address the implementation of a sales and service culture in a credit union.

Penn. CUF Plans Literarcy Grants

HARRISBURG, Penn.-The Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation plans to begin awarding Financial Literacy grants. The board has approved project eligibility requirements, a formal application and planning document, and monitoring requirements that will facilitate the flow of information to the Foundation from potential grantees. Foundation Chairman John Kebles said that "every Pennsylvania credit union and non-profit organization involved in financial education can apply for a grant, since it is the goal of the foundation that students in all 501 school districts receive life skills training in financial literacy."

Torre To Keynote NJ CUL Meeting

HIGHTSTOWN, N.J.-New York Yankees Manager Joe Torre will be the opening speaker at the New Jersey Credit Union League's annual meeting and convention in Atlantic City on Nov. 12. The co- author of several books, Torre will speak to the challenges of sport and the importance of teamwork.

Northwest FCU Joins SCC Network

HERNDON, Va.-The $1.1-billion Northwest FCU here has signed an agreement with the Service Centers Corp. national shared branch network. "Branch locations are a key component in attracting-and retaining-members," said Northwest FCU President and CEO Juri Valdov. "Northwest Fed has branches in Herndon and Vienna (Virginia), and by joining SCC, we're able to add access to more than 1,000 branches nationally, including more than 10 in the D.C. area, without the expense of building, staffing or managing the facility." Northwest FCU has 64,000 members.
