More Than $165K Is Raised

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.-Chartway FCU raised a whopping $165,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern Foundation through its fifth annual Charity Golf Classic.The event marks the second consecutive year the credit union has been the largest fundraiser for the charity. Since 1988, Chartway has helped raise $352,500 for Make-A-Wish. This year's funds will help grant the wishes of 38 local children who have life threatening diseases.

Staubach Applauds Navy FCU

VIENNA, Va.-Navy FCU's employees pledged more than $330,000 to the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) of the National Capital Area-exceeding the credit union's monetary goal by better than $90,000. More than 75% of Navy Federal employees participated in this year's Combined Federal Campaign. The credit union's fundraising included acknowledgement from NFL Hall of Fame quarterback and graduate of the Naval Academy, Roger Staubach. "We all have to strike a balance in our lives between taking and giving back. CFC is a great way to do that," Staubach said.

MACU Soars With SBA Loans

SALT LAKE CITY-Mountain America Credit Union has been granted a Preferred Lender status by the Small Business Administration (SBA). Mountain America reported it received the preferred status just eight months into its first year of SBA lending. Moreover, it completed its first fiscal year in the top 100 SBA lenders in the nation by loan number and was the number-one SBA lender in Utah for the month of October.

CUNA Council Amends Name

MADISON, Wis.-The CUNA Marketing Council has changed its name. The group, the first of the CUNA Councils, is now called the CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council.
