Christmas Club Pays Out
DUBUQUE, Iowa-It's that time of year. Dupaco Community CU said it is paying out $3 million in Christmas Club deposits to some 3,300 members who have been saving up for the holidays. "As we approach the holiday season, we want local retailers to be aware that this large sum of money, which has been saved mainly for the purpose of holiday gift-giving, is being made available," said CEO Bob Hoefer. "We hope they will then act to attract the spending of these funds in the tri-state area for the benefit of the local economy."

Deseret FCU Distributes Kits
SALT LAKE CITY-Deseret First Credit Union said it has distributed more than 2,500 Child ID kits to Utahans over the past two months. The kits are part of the National Child Identification Kits program and are free. During a press conference announcing the kits availability, Ed Smart, whose daughter Elizabeth was abducted and eventually rescued, said, "In an effort to identify our daughter's fingerprints and DNA, boxes of personal items were taken, many of them keepsakes which could not be replaced. This kit helps us prepare and gives us ideas on educating our children about how to be safe."
