Industry Honors Retiring Chatfield
ROME, Italy-To mark the pending retirement of CEO and long-time credit union veteran Dave Chatfield, the Calfornia/Nevada CU League has announced the formation of the David L. Chatfield International Training Fund. Chatfield has long been an advocate of international credit union development and served on the World Council of Credit Unions board until last year. The formation of the fund was announced at WOCCU's World Credit Union Conference here. It will be administered by the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions and will support development training programs for credit union staff and leaders worldwide.
To raise funds, the league is dedicating the November issue of its CU Digest publication to Chatfield and inviting credit unions and others to purchase ads in tribute. Chatfield will retire April 1, 2006.
Affordable Housing Program Offered
SALT LAKE CITY-America First CU has launched a new affordable housing program with Fannie Mae designed to help members achieve home ownership, making AFCU the first CU in Utah to offer this product, the CU said.
While 40-year mortgages are nothing new to the home-buying industry, they are rapidly gaining in popularity among certain groups of homebuyers including:
* First-time homebuyers
* Individuals with irregular incomes such as seasonal workers and self-employed business owners
* Individuals facing affordability in high cost housing areas or relocating to a higher cost community
* Those wanting to refinance
