Workshops For Small CUs Planned

ALEXANDRIA, Va.-NCUA is planning Small Credit Union Initiative Workshops in Arkansas, Tennessee and Virginia. The free workshops, entitled "Working to Create Opportunities for Credit Unions," schedule sessions on topics such as regulatory compliance for Bank Secrecy Act and other statutes, upcoming call report modifications, and effective delinquency and collection practices. The meeting will be held in Little Rock on Oct. 6, Alexandria on Oct. 29, and Memphis on Nov. 8.

Graham Elected To CUNA Board

MADISON, Wis.-John A. Graham, president of Kentucky Employees CU, Frankfort, has been elected to CUNA's board in a special election. Graham won the District 2, Class A board seat vacated by Jim Oliva when he became ineligible after taking a position with a Class B credit union.

NC CU Behind New Radio Show

RALEIGH, N.C.-Local Government Federal Credit Union (LGFCU) has developed a program for North Carolina's State Government Radio. VP of Financial Services Dion Williams debuted the credit union's radio show, Money Wise, on Sept. 6 from Raleigh. It is to air every Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. on 570 AM WDNZ and can also be heard via the Internet at www.stategovernment radio.com.

"The goal of the show is to offer practical advice for everyday financial issues. Attention spans are seemingly shorter while financial needs are increasingly more complex. I hope this show can reconcile those competing needs by providing useful information in a brief amount of time," said Williams.

Calhoun To Retire From SEFCU

ALBANY, N.Y.-Patrick G. Calhoun, CEO of the $1.2-billion SEFCU here, said he will retire at the end of 2006. Calhoun was named CEO in 1988 and has been active in a number of state and national credit union organizations, along with other causes. During the past 17 years, SEFCU's average annual growth has been 12.5%, 11% and 10% in assets, deposits and loans respectively. Michael J. Castellana has been named as Calhoun's successor.
