Navy Federal Achieves CFS Goal
VIENNA, Va.-Navy FCU said it achieved its 2005 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) goal, collecting $289,000. Since attaining its first contribution goal of $10,505 in 1980, Navy Federal employees have contributed $3.8 million to the CFC.
Navy Federal's CFC campaign entitled "Heroes of the Heart," highlighted the achievements and generosity exhibited by ordinary people everyday. Fundraising activities included raffle drawings to stay at a bed and breakfast and Redskin game tickets; candy sales; and gift basket auctions.
CUES Advisory Commitee Named
MADISON, Wis.-The Credit Union Executives Society's Financial Services Forum Advisory Committee has elected new members.
They are: chairman, Peter Duffy, associate director, Sandler O'Neill & Partners L.P., New York; vice-chairman/chairman-elect, Marc Paine, EVP/director of marketing, Strunk & Associates, L.P., Houston, and new committee member Chris Gunnare, SVP/account management, The Members Group, Des Moines, Iowa. Other committee members include Scott Grow of DEI, Carol Simpson of Pemco Technologies, and Gene Zumwalt of CUNA Mutual.
Honda FCU CEO To Race For CMN
TORRANCE, Calif.-Jim Updike, CEO of Honda FCU, is planning once again to captain a sailboat in the 58th Annual Lexus Newport to Ensenada race and, in the process, break a record for funds raised for the Children Miracle Network.
Last year, Updike helped to raise $12,000 for CMN. Updike's crew members are representatives of a number of CU vendors, including WesCorp, Creditor's Insurance, Southwest Business Systems, and The Members Group. The race of more than 125 miles has more than 500 vessels participating each year.
In-School Branches At Record High
MADISON, Wis.-CUNA is reporting that the number of credit union-run branches at schools has hit a record 475.
At year-end 2005, 134 credit unions in 30 states had 475 in-school branches, compared with 58 credit unions, 22 states and 191 branches in 2001, the association said.
