GRANITE FALLS, N.C. – Police are looking for a man who tried to bash his way into a State Employees CU ATM with a sledgehammer last week. The attack, taped on the surveillance video, caused an estimated $35,000 worth of damage, but the machine wouldn’t give up its bounty. The video shows a car pulling up to the ATM, then a sledgehammer hitting the machine several times before the video gives out. Police are investigating whether it is related to a similar unsuccessful attack on a Wachovia Bank ATM earlier the same day.
