GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. - (06/01/05) -- A man who tried to open an accountlast week at Bellco CU using a fake drivers license may be part ofan international identity theft ring, according to authorities. Thesuspect, identified as William Gossett, was arrested after a creditunion employee thought he was behaving suspiciously and called theArapahoe County Sheriff's Department. After a deputy arrived andbegan asking questions the suspect ran to his car and fled, leadingdeputies on a high speed chase, before being cornered. Deputiesfound three different drivers licenses--two from Massachusetts andone from Florida--on Gossett, all with Gossett's photo butdifferent names. Authorities believe Gossett is involved in aninternational ring which produces the website shadowcrew.com whichgives people access to the tools they can use for identity theft,like credit reports and identification. He was being held inArapahoe County Jail on nine charges, including forgery andcriminal impersonation.
