Toy drive success

Hundreds of children at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego and CHOC Children’s Hospital will receive toys throughout 2017 thanks to San Diego County CU’s members and employees, who donated 797 toys for its seventh annual toy drive benefitting the two hospitals. Separately, SDCCU will be the title sponsor of the 2017-2018 Broadway/San Diego season.

In Seaford, Del., Tidemark FCU welcomed the Seaford Chamber of Commerce and numerous members to celebrate its official name change ribbon-cutting. The CU had operated for more than 58 years as Sussex County FCU.

Portland partnership

Point West CU, Portland, Ore., and the Consulate of Mexico in Portland formed a new partnership to promote financial education to the Mexican community in the Portland metro area. The partnership was formalized at a signing ceremony at the Consulate of Mexico.

GCS raises funds for kids

Employees of GCS Credit Union, Granite City, Ill., raised $1,113.34 in one month to benefit local scouts. The funds were split, with $556.67 going to the Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois and $556.67 going to the Greater St. Louis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.

Cookbook benefits food bank

In Middletown, R.I., People's CU's Community Enhancement Committee coordinated the creation and sale of an employee cookbook. All proceeds from the sale of the cookbook, totaling $1,182.50, were donated to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.

Market USA FCU, Laurel, Md., sponsored a "Millionaire's Club" financial education experience at St. Vincent Pallotti High School. At the launch for the club, more than 60 students packed the classroom, eager to learn more and begin their journey toward financial independence.

RTN benefits PACs

RTN FCU, Waltham, Mass., raises funds each month to support credit union advocacy efforts through its casual dress program called Blue Jeans Days, $2 each for the last two Fridays of each month, Saturdays for $1. All funds for to the political action committees run by the Credit Union Cooperative Association (50% to CULAC and 50% to MCULPAC).
