Bangor FCU, Bangor, Maine, awarded $1,000 each to 11 graduating seniors from area high schools. The students had to demonstrate a passion for community service and a willingness to always get involved.
LAFCU, Lansing, Mich., awarded the inaugural LAFCU Community Champions scholarship to U.S. Army veteran Joshua Vaughn. He received $1,000 toward attending Lansing Community College based on his essay identifying three reasons he was compelled to serve his country.
The Fort Hood, Texas branch of Alexandria, Va.-based PenFed CU received the Department of the Army Distinguished Credit Union Service Award, which recognizes an on-post credit union branch that has provided the most exceptional financial service and support to its community.
Mid-Atlantic Corporate
In Middletown, Pa., Mid-Atlantic Corporate’s 3rd Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest had its best participation yet, with 12 contestants and 15 sponsors. The event brought in $2,500 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Greater Nevada
Greater Nevada CU, Carson City, Nev., and the Reno Aces, the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, awarded two lucky winners each a trip for four to Nashville, Tenn., to see the Aces take on the Nashville Sounds. The Aces play at Greater Nevada Field.
RMJ Foundation
The Richard Myles Johnson (RMJ) Foundation/CUNA Mutual Golf Tournament, held at the Newport Beach Country Club in Newport Beach, Calif., raised a record $70,000 for the state foundation for credit unions in California and Nevada.
USU Credit Union celebrated its return to campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Welcome Center Branch. The USU Credit Union branch is located on the first floor of Utah State University’s new 14,000-square-foot Welcome Center in Logan, Utah.
SPIRE CU, Falcon Heights, Minn., celebrated its new partnership Ogilvie Raceway with a special night at the track, featuring families, fun and fast cars.
Hopewell FCU, Heath, Ohio, held its 6th annual Car Show. Proceeds from the event topped $1,600 and were presented to the Licking County Humane Society.
RiverFall CU opened its new headquarters in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The new, 12,215-square-foot headquarters was a design-build project with Seattle-based Momentum.
FORUM CU, Indianapolis, announced the winner of its annual youth entrepreneurial contest. The winner created a comprehensive business plan for Hawk Eye Golf Company. His concept: an organization to provide affordable, high-quality used golf balls to the community.
Kellogg Community CU, Battle Creek, Mich., announced five recipients of the 2016 KCCU College Scholarship, which provides $1,000 toward tuition fees to members who will be attending an accredited Michigan college or university.

RTN FCU, Waltham, Mass., gave $10,000 to three college-bound students whose parents are members in the James A. Burley, Jr. Scholarship Awards.

The Department of the Air Force named Keesler FCU, Biloxi, Miss., the 2015 Credit Union of the Year for the greater than $1 billion in assets category. The CU opened a second Keesler Air Force Base branch to better serve the Airmen in training.
