Bark in the Park
Voyage FCU, Sioux Falls, S.D., raised $100 for the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society at the 14th annual "Bark in the Park" event. Voyage brought its hashtag wall to be used as a backdrop to take pictures. For every picture taken, shared and commented on through Facebook, Voyage FCU donated $1 to the local shelter.
Dow Stuffs the Bus
Dow Chemical Employees' CU, Midland, Mich., collected more than 1,000 school supply and non-perishable food items in partnership with Garber Chevrolet's "Stuff the Bus" campaign.
Supplies for Students
Highlighters, colored pencils and index cards are just a few of the school supplies collected through Advia CU's School Supply Drive to benefit schools and students in the local communities Advia serves in the Kalamazoo, Mich., area.
New Affinity Card
Greylock FCU, Pittsfield, Mass., introduced a new debit card featuring the Lee High School Wildcats logo and school colors. Every time a member signs up for a Wildcats debit card, Greylock will make a donation to Lee High School.
A Rising Star
Monica Aksamit, Olympic bronze-medalist fencer and member of Brooklyn-based Polish & Slavic FCU, was named the 2016 "PSFCU Rising Star" for her exceptional achievement at the Summer Olympic Games in Rio.
CU on Wednesday
Western Cooperative CU, Williston N.D., matched its local Salvation Army Thrift Store by raising $2,906.78 during a campaign called "Western Cooperative Credit Union Wednesdays."
Mission Fed Benefits Worthy Causes
In San Diego, Mission Fed employees raised funds through their Care Wear program, giving $1,500 each to Alzheimer's San Diego and the Helen Woodward Animal Center. The CU also sponsored a summer lunch program and helped promote baseball in the inner city.
Community Grants
DATCU CU, Corinth, Texas, and the Federal Home Loan Bank Dallas awarded a $17,000 Partnership Grant Program award to Serve Denton to help the Denton, Texas, community.
SECU Invests in Hospice Center
State Employees' CU, Raleigh, N.C., and its SECU Foundation made a $1 million investment in the SECU Jim & Betsy Bryan Hospice Home of UNC Health Care, an inpatient and residential hospice facility. The SECU Foundation also made a $500,000 capital grant toward SECU Lecture Hall, a 200-seat conference area inside Fellowship Hall's new Outpatient Center.
Record Year for Relay for Life
Diamond CU, Pottstown, Pa., supported the American Cancer Society Relay For Life for the 11th year. It was a record year for fundraising: $90,000, bringing its 11-year total to more than $736,000.
Songs4Soldiers Benefit Concert
Scott CU, Edwardsville, Ill., presented a $1,000 check for sponsorship of this year's Songs4Soldiers benefit concert at Bolm-Schuhkraft City Park. The CU also pledged $250,000 over the next five years to support the new St. Elizabeth's Hospital being built in O'Fallon.
Carolinas Roundtable
The Carolinas CU League, seven member credit unions from across North Carolina's 5th Congressional District and CUNA representatives joined in a roundtable discussion of issues with Congresswoman Virginia Foxx (NC-5) at Truliant FCU in Winston-Salem, N.C.
School Supplies Drive
AventaCares, the nonprofit foundation of Aventa CU, Colorado Springs, Colo., hosted its first annual school supplies drive for students in need. It raised more than $600 in school supplies and monetary donations from Aventa staff and members in one month, donated directly to schools in the three regions served by Aventa.
