Southwest Michigan FCU, Kalamazoo, Mich., sponsored a holiday party for the Battle Creek Boys and Girls Club.
Indiana Members CU, Indianapolis, hosted "Funky Town, Like A Radical 80s Party" to benefit the Indiana Members Foundation, raising more than $23,000. Separately, the CU delivered more than 300 new toys and hand-made scarves to Riley Hospital for Children and also sponsored a holiday celebration at IPS School 44, Riverside Elementary, where scarves and toys were distributed to more than 500 students and turkey dinners were provided to all faculty and staff.
Robins FCU, Warner Robins, Ga., presented a 2012 Chevy Sonic to Maria and Ruben Lopez as part of a new accounts and loan promotion. Separately, the CU also donated $5,000 to Rebuilding Together, collected 24 pints of blood at its blood drive, donated $1,000 to the Muscular Dystrophy Association's 2013 MDA Muscle Walk and donated $5,000 to sponsor the Cherry Blossom pins as part of the 2013 Cherry Blossom Festival.
Securityplus FCU, Baltimore, raised $1,043, which the CU then made a matching donation of $1,000 for a total of $2,043 raised for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services Employees Activities Association. In other news, the CU participated in a "three weeks of giving" initiative in which it raised money and collected toys, clothing and other supplies for Baltimore Outreach Service, Toys for Tots and the Maryland Food Bank.
Credit Union Association of the Dakotas, Bismarck, N.D., said CEO Robbie Thompson and VP-Advocacy & Awareness Jeff Olson were interviewed on the live radio and web broadcast of "Legislature Today."
Changing Seasons FCU, Hampden, Maine, visited a 3rd grade class and had the students create cardboard mittens to be sent to military personnel overseas to celebrate the holiday season.
South Carolina FCU donated $2,291.31 to James B. Edwards Elementary School. In other news, the credit union's Young & Free South Carolina program awarded a limo party and a $500 gift card to Cane Bay High School cheerleaders as part of the Last Fans Standing contest.
Members Advantage CU awarded $5,000 Learn to Earn Scholarships to Andrea Gasaway and Erika Montgomery. In other news, the CU also donated $500 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County and another $500 to the Portage Township Food Pantry.
Municipal CU sponsored a Civil Service Appreciation Day.
Shell FCU, Deer Park, Texas, engaged in a number of charitable activities at the end of last year including hosing the Cell Phones for Soldiers phone drive, which netted $1,650 worth of old cell phones and calling cards and donating $2,600 to the Boys' & Girls' Harbor Christmas Party.
Orion FCU, Memphis, Tenn., made a donation to the Memphis-MidSouth Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. In other news, the CU helped two members with mortgages through its Home Run Program and also won one of the CUES Golden Mirror awards.
Jeanne D'Arc CU, Lowell, Mass., signed a three-year sponsorship agreement with the Lowell Festival Foundation to present the Lowell Summer Music Series.
Hudson River Community CU, Glens Falls, N.Y., donated $250 to the Washington County Sheriff's Department Explorer Post 5602. The CU also donated $250 to the Lower Adirondack Search and Rescue Unit and $250 to the Hope 7 Food Pantry.
Western New York FCU, West Seneca, N.Y., was named Business of the Year by the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce.
America's Christian CU, Glendora, Calif., donated more than $13,000 to Children's Miracle Network during 2012.
The Jamestown Chapter of the Credit Union Association of New York collected more than 600 toys that were distributed to Love Inc. in Jamestown, N.Y., and Union Relief of Westfield, N.Y. at the Jamestown Chapter Toys for Kids dinner.
The Houston Chapter of Credit Unions collected more than 25,700 toys for the KHOU Channel 11 "Spirit of Texas Toy Drive" benefiting the Salvation Army.
Hershey FCU, Hummelstown, Penn., donated $500 to Children's Miracle Network. The money was raised by the purchase of snowflake and snowman signs at all three branches, and from a dress-down for charity event.
North Jersey FCU, Totowa, N.J., donated $10,000 to the Marine Cares Foundation.
