Celebrating Juntos Avanzamos designation

Miami Lakes, Fla.-based JetStream FCU celebrated its Juntos Avanzamos (Spanish for “Together We Advance”) designation along with the grand opening of its new Doral branch. JetStream was the first CU in Florida to receive the Juntos designation.

Wine auction

The 12th annual California and Nevada Credit Unions for Kids Wine Auction raised more than $1 million for the 11 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in California and Nevada for the third consecutive year. The event drew more than 500 attendees and was supported by 88 CUs, business partners and hospitals. The lead corporate sponsors were CU Direct, the California and Nevada CU Leagues, CO-OP Financial Services, and CUNA Mutual Group.

First Capital FCU, York, Pa., hosted 16 juniors and seniors from several York County High Schools for the first session of its 2017 Youth Financial Advisory Board. The students learned about the differences between CUs and banks, toured the office and spoke with employees to learn about the various positions and job opportunities available in the financial industry.

American 1 CU, Jackson, Mich., welcomed more than 3,000 guests at it latest Jackson Women’s Expo. Now in its 15th year, the CU has hosted 22 Women’s Expos during that time. Charities that benefited from the event included Girl Scouts Troop #60196 and the HanoverHorton American Legion.

Delaware Credit Unions engaged lawmakers and small business owners at their Small Business Caucus, sponsored by the Cooperative CU Association, part of the CCUA’s “Better Values.BetterBanking.” campaign designed to heighten CU awareness. Rep. Mike Ramone (R-Chanterelle) invited CUs to “let us know what we can do to help” with regulatory burdens.
