Orlando, Fla.-based Darden CU, a division of USF FCU, donated $10,000 to Darden Restaurants’ “Darden Dimes” program, which enables team members to provide financial assistance to their co-workers experiencing emergency and catastrophic situations.

Helping food pantries, students and community organizations

Charter Oak FCU, Waterford, Conn., donated $3,500 each to 13 local food pantries and shelters – a total of $45,500 – to help purchase much-needed supplies for those in eastern Connecticut. Charter Oak awarded more than $400,000 to students and community organizations in 2016.

New England FCU, Williston, Vt., donated $5,000 each to four Franklin County community organizations: Martha’s Kitchen, Tim’s House, Franklin County Home Health and United Way of Northwest Vermont. Separately, NEFCU’s Blankets of Hope drive collected 150 blankets.

Dollywood Foundation donation

Employees of Volunteer Corporate CU, Nashville, Tenn., contributed $1,620 to the Dollywood Foundation to help support the victims of the fire that devastated Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge late last year.

Xceed Financial CU, El Segundo, Calif., donated more than 10,000 canned goods and other food items to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, the Second Harvest Food Bank, Christian Community Action, Foodlink, and Missions of God, which serve communities where the CU operates major facilities.

Hats, gloves and hope

First Capital FCU, York, Pa., delivered hats and mittens to the Salvation Army of York. The cold weather gear was donated by members and staff during the holidays and placed on the Hat & Mitten trees located in the CU’s branch lobbies. Separately, the CU held a credit card promotion that raised $250 to benefit the York Cancer Center.

Army Aviation Center FCU, Daleville, Ala., donated a total of $5,000 to three Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals as it completed its year-long 50th anniversary celebration. Separately, in 2016, AACFCU employees volunteered more than 870 hours in their local communities.

Ribbon cutting

Roanoke, Va.-based Member One FCU hosted a ribbon-cutting celebration at its newest retail center in Forest, Va. The new branch is located in a storefront location within The Shoppes at Jefferson Crossing, a 20,000-square-foot retail development adjacent to Walmart Marketplace. Separately, the CU once again sponsored the Community Youth Program’s Coat and Shoe Drive.
