Crane
Odon, Ind.-based Crane CUs branch Washington, Ind., collected more than 50 pairs of new shoes for the Bethel Back to School Mall. This effort was in memory of Lenora Whitehead, a beloved credit union employee who passed away in 2014.
Voyage
For the fourth consecutive year, Voyage FCU, Sioux Falls, S.D., sent Dream Teams to help build homes for Habitat for Humanity.
PSECU
PSECU, Harrisburg, Pa., helped build strong relationships among youth and police officers by participating in the Dancing with the Stars of Harrisburg fundraiser. The proceeds supported the Harrisburg Police Action League.
Hughes
Hughes FCU, Tucson, Ariz., welcomed its 100,000th member-owner. Its membership rate has doubled since 2009 thanks to its progressive member-only rates. The 100,000th member-owner, Maria Reyes, received a $1,000 check.
Greater Eastern
Greater Eastern CU, Jonesborough, Tenn., honored Americas Vietnam Veterans by participating in a Welcome Home Parade and Ceremony at The Mountain Home Veterans Administration. GECU walked the parade route placing red, white and blue flower leis on the necks of all the Vietnam Veterans present, welcoming them home and thanking them for their service.
Diamond
In Pottstown, Pa., Diamond CUs Alfred A. Panfile Memorial Scholarship recognizes students who give back to their local community through volunteerism, teamwork, and spreading goodwill. Diamond awarded five $1,000 scholarships.
Catholic
Catholic FCU, Saginaw, Mich., donated $10,000 to Holy Cross Childrens Services through advised funds that are managed by the Catholic Community Foundation of Mid-Michigan.
Georgia Heritage
Georgia Heritage FCU, Savannah, Ga., donated $2,500 to The American Cancer Societys Relay for Life.
Kinecta
Kinecta FCU, Manhattan Beach, Calif., hosted its 4th Annual Community Celebration & Chili Cook-off by honoring local police and fire departments for their service. The event featured Kinectas Texas-style BBQ rig and live entertainment. It raised $760, which Kinecta matched for a total of $1,520 donated to Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals.
JetStream
JetStream FCU held a grand opening for its new branch in its headquarters city of Miami Lakes, Fla. The CU received a special certificate from city officials.
United
United FCU, St. Joseph, Mich., took on cross-town rival Honor CU, Berrien Springs, Mich., in Gateway Services A Play for Gateway Softball Tournament to raise money for rehabilitation services for people with disabilities. Separately, United FCU opened a branch in Asheville, N.C.
TDECU
Candace Strother of TDECU, Lake Jackson, Texas, was on-hand with The Womens Empowerment Foundation, providing financial literacy and educational support.
Forward Financial
The Relay for Life team representing Forward Financial CU, Niagara, Wis., raised $2,554.37 for cancer research.
America First
Employees from America First CU, Riverdale, Utah, participated in the 10th annual Utah State University Ladies Football Clinic. Attendees learned about nutrition, football scheme, techniques and fundamentals taught by the USU players and coaches.
Indiana League
Credit unions across Indiana contributed shoes and monetary donations to Samaritans Feet so 250 children who needed them could have a new pair of shoes.
First Capital
First Capital FCU, York, Pa., treated those in its youth programs to a free baseball game at a local ballpark. First Capital employees who serve on the NextGen committee organized and worked the event.
CUAD
A ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house were held to officially open the new Credit Union Association of the Dakotas office in Sioux Falls, S.D.
