Keesler FCU breaks ground

NewGround, a St. Louis-based experiential design-build firm, recently broke ground for Keesler FCU’s new branch in Petal, Miss. The 3,397-square-foot facility will include a Tech Bar, a safety deposit room and a conference room. It is expected to be completed in December.

Gone fishin'

ABNB Federal Credit Union, Chesapeake, Va., said its 14th Annual Fishing Fest raised more than $65,000 for the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters. More than 100 participants attended this year’s Fishing Fest, gathering at Rudee Inlet for a half-day of fishing on Chesapeake Bay and lunch provided by Mobile Pig-Nic.

Jeanne D’Arc CU, Lowell, Mass., said the quarterly winner of its latest Give-A-Click campaign was Uncommon Threads. The non-profit, located in Lawrence, Mass., uses clothes as a tool for boosting the self-esteem and self-worth of women in need. Uncommon Threads received a $1,500 donation from the CU’s We Share A Common Thread Foundation.

Food pantry donation

New England FCU, Williston Vt., donated $2,500 to the Williston Community Food Shelf for the Summer Bag Program, which provides two additional bags of “kid friendly” food per month to families with children during summer vacation. Separately, NEFCU’s summer Shred Fest destroyed 24,000 lbs. – 12 tons – of sensitive documents, and 300 computer hard drives.

Checking accounts for charity

Over 10 weeks, Diamond CU, Pottstown, Pa., asked members to refer friends and family members with the incentive of earning donations for six local charitable organizations. Both the referring member and the new member chose one organization to receive $10 after the new checking account was opened. Members raised more than $2,500 for the six organizations.

Dover FCU, Dover, Del., donated $1,470 to Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Delaware. Employees raised funds by participating in “Jeans Friday,” paying to wear jeans on a designated Friday. Dover FCU then matched the employees’ donations.

GCS Credit Union, Granite City, Ill., donated $29,000 to the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight. The money was raised during GCS CU’s 1st Annual Tee Up Fore Veterans Golf Tournament at Stonewolf Golf Club in Fairview Heights.
