Ocala
Ocala Community CU, Ocala, Fla., is the sponsor of the North Central Florida Lightning Track Club. Kymasia Perry, granddaughter of an OCCU member, qualified in the long jump at Regionals to go on to the Junior Olympics in Houston.
CoastHills
CoastHills CU, Lompoc, Calif., donated $500 to the 5Cities Homeless Coalition to sponsor the fifth annual Empty Bowls Community Luncheon, a major fundraiser for the organization.
Ventura County
Ventura County CU, Ventura, Calif., partnered with Interface Children & Family Services a nonprofit that assists those who suffer from abuse, domestic violence, family conflict and mental health issues in support of the Project Hope art exhibit.
Security Service
San Antonio-based Security Service FCUs Charitable Foundation donated $5,000 to Magdalena House which helps women and children escape abusive and dangerous situations to help fund infrastructure costs to develop Magdalena Houses five-acre property into a gated neighborhood, permitting six more homes to be built on the property.
Greater Eastern
Greater Eastern CU, Jonesborough, Tenn., participated in the 2016 Washington County TN Relay for Life. GECU sold t-shirts, luminaria and other fundraising items. The GECU Tumor Terminators proudly raised $2,274 for the American Cancer Society.
CFCU
CFCU Community CU, Ithaca, N.Y., gave $40,500 in scholarships and awards to local graduates. Recipients demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership and community service.
Peach State
Peach State FCU, Lawrenceville, Ga., welcomed 12 visitors from Alabama and Florida credit unions for the Learning Journey, an educational tour of Georgia credit unions for the purpose of identifying best practices and resources for a variety of topics.
Sikorsky
Sikorsky CU, Stratford, Conn., awarded $1,000 scholarships to five high school seniors.
Elevations
Elevations CU, Boulder, Colo., celebrated Bike Month in Colorado by giving $2,500 to local community biking nonprofit organizations. The donations were part of its Heres to Community Biking campaign.
Kellogg
Kellogg Community CU, Battle Creek, Mich., opened a new branch in Grand Rapids with state-of-the-art features. The new branch will provide added convenience for the many Kellogg Company employees who already are KCCU members, plus others.
