Hurricane relief and highway adoptions

Philadelphia-based American Heritage CU raised $10,060 for the victims and relief efforts after Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. Separately, AHCU’s Green Team hosted its third and final Adopt-A-Highway event of the year, cleaning two miles of Route 13 (Frankford Ave.).

Public Service CU, Lone Tree, Colo., the Official Credit Union of the Rocky Mountain Showdown between Colorado and Colorado State, hosted a pass, punt and kick contest during this year’s game at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

CUAD gives back

The Credit Union Foundation of the Dakotas held its First Annual Golf Fundraiser in Jamestown, N.D. Participants and sponsors raised $8,800 to be used for local charities, scholarships, financial literacy programs and community grants. Separately, the Credit Union Association of the Dakotas participated in Miracle Jeans Day and raised $450 for local children’s hospitals.

Happy anniversary!

Merrimack Valley CU celebrated its 10th anniversary headquartered in Lawrence, Mass. The credit union is the only financial institution based in the city. Fall also marked the one-year anniversary of the opening of its Seabrook, N.H., branch in the Seabrook Commons.

CMN donation

American Airlines FCU, Fort Worth, Texas, donated $60,000 to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, funds raised at the 21st Annual Credit Union Golf Tournament at Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine, Texas. The donation will be split between Cook Children’s Medical Center Foundation and Children’s Medical Center Foundation.

Patriot Awards

In Rochester, N.H., three executives from Holy Rosary CU – president & CEO Brian Hughes, COO Rosemary Shields and AVP of Technology Ken Mauser – were recognized with Patriot Awards from the Employer Support of the National Guard and Reserve.

Helping after Harvey

Austin-based Greater Texas CU raised a total of $21,570 through employee and member fundraising, which then was matched by the credit union and presented by check to the American Red Cross to support Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

Andrews hosts 'Back2School Bash'

Andrews FCU, Suitland, Md., served as a community sponsor for the Tots2Tweens Back2School Bash at the Springfield Town Center in Springfield, Va. The first 500 kids were provided drawstring backpacks, pencils and pencil cases.

Volunteer beach clean-up

People's CU, Middletown, R.I., brought together 18 people to form two volunteer teams for beach clean-ups with Clean Ocean Access and Save the Bay.

Belco supports hurricane relief efforts

Belco Community CU, Harrisburg, Pa., supported Mission Central hurricane relief efforts. Eight Belco employees volunteered to help fill cleaning buckets with items needed to aid those who were victims of the recent hurricanes. Belco also made a $500 donation to Mission Central.
