In Massachusetts, Hanscom FCU celebrated its annual Member Appreciation Day. Scores of members and visitors at the main branch on Hanscom Air Force Base enjoyed grilled hot dogs, chips, cold drinks and special treats from Hanscom FCU member business Cookie Monstah.

TruMark Financial CU, Fort Washington, Pa., wanted to be part of the effort to help the Houston community rebuild from Hurricane Harvey. Employees were permitted to wear jeans on Fridays for four weeks in exchange for a donation. The fundraiser brought in $800.

America’s First FCU celebrated the expansion of its headquarters in downtown Birmingham, Ala., with a groundbreaking ceremony. Once completed, the expansion will add 45,000 square feet to the CU’s main office and provide needed space for current and future operations.

Through its Team Up for Schools campaign, St. Helens Community CU, St. Helens, Ore., is donating five cents to area high schools each time members of the CU use one of three special debit cards. Each card is designed with a local school’s colors, name and image.

Credit Union of Ohio held a “Building Connections” day to celebrate 10 years at its headquarters in Hilliard, Ohio. Members and the public were invited to stop by for community partner pop-up surprises throughout the day, including free food and treats from Hilliard-based Flyers Pizza, The Little Ice Cream Shoppe, Coffee Connections, Cori’s Confections and the City of Hilliard.

A force in fundraising

Financial Partners CU, Downey, Calif., and its 243 employees have become a powerful fundraising force since branch operations manager Karen Wilson’s nine-year-old daughter Jordin was diagnosed with sickle cell disease five years ago. There have been numerous creative fund raising activities to donate to Jordin’s health provider, Children’s Hospital of Orange County.
