Run for kids

Dan O’Brien, a solution architect with USALLIANCE Financial CU, Rye, N.Y., and a member of the Credit Unions Kids at Heart team, completed the 2017 Boston Marathon in 3 hours, 54 minutes and 7 seconds. Dan ran on behalf of his two patient partners, Matt Bridges and Kayla Biagiotti, and raised $15,000 for Boston Children’s Hospital.

Texas Trust gives scholarship

Texas Trust CU, Arlington, Texas, awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Grand Prairie ISD student Jemiah Williams. Williams, a senior at Dubiski Career HS, has been accepted at Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she plans to study business with an emphasis on foreign policy and social issues.

Nebraska expansion continues

Veridian CU opened its new branch in Papillion, Neb. The facility is Veridian’s third of 10 to 15 branches planned for the greater Omaha area over the next 10 years. The Waterloo, Iowa-based CU opened in Council Bluffs, Iowa, last spring, then opened its first branch outside of Iowa in Omaha, Neb., in December.

Boosting seniors' tech skills

Navigant CU, Smithfield, R.I., donated $1,500 to the Cumberland Senior Center for the purchase of new computers. The computers will give the senior citizens who visit the center the opportunity to try and experience new technology.
