Hanscom FCU gives back
As part of its continued support of the Airman Leadership School on Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., Hanscom FCU contributed $2,400 to the program. The funds will allow the school to hold ceremonies for the graduates.
Top workplace honors
Seasons FCU, Middletown, Conn., was named one of the Best Places to Work in Connecticut. The annual program, now in its 13 year, was created by the Hartford Business Journal and Best Companies Group.
Going solar
DuPont Community CU, Waynesboro, Va., announced its plan to install solar power generation at nearly all of its locations. In its agreement with Sigora Solar, the CU will use renewable energy at its headquarters, operations center and 12 of its 13 branches.
Putting college within reach
Michigan State University FCU, East Lansing, Mich., donated $100,000 to Lansing Promise, an organization providing access to place-based tuition assistance for all eligible high school graduates or GED recipients living and schooling within the Lansing School District boundaries.
Marketing honors
TopLine FCU, Maple Grove, Minn., won two outstanding marketing awards from the Minnesota Credit Union Network. The inaugural Minnesota Credit Union Marketing Awards honored TopLine in two categories: Community Impact and Outreach, and Digital Advertising.
Wellness workshop
Pelican State CU, Baton Rouge, La., hosted a free Community Financial Wellness Workshop for the Prairieville community at the Oak Grove Community Center on Highway 42. Attendees received tips for improving their credit score, why a strong score is important and more.
A bigger 'Bite of Reality'
The Richard Myles Johnson Foundation’s Bite of Reality program enjoyed a successful 2017, with new uses for its app launched in 2016 and reaching more than 16,000 students throughout California and Nevada – an increase of 5,000 from 2016.
'Casual for a Cause'
People's CU, Middletown, R.I., donated more than $500 to the United Way of Rhode Island. The funds were raised through a bake sale and an employee dress down day, called Casual for a Cause, that is put on by People's Community Enhancement Committee.
Nassau Financial gives back
Nassau Financial FCU, Westbury, N.Y., donated $1,800 to sponsor and serve lunch at the Mary Brennan INN, a local soup kitchen. Twenty credit union employees worked at the INN for the day, completing much-needed tasks including food and clothing intake, stocking shelves in the clothing store and food pantry, and serving lunch to more than 250 guests.
Keesler FCU expands
Biloxi, Miss.-based Keesler FCU opened a new branch in Petal, Miss., its first location in the Petal market. The 3,200-square-foot branch is located on Evelyn Gandy Parkway, just west of the Walmart Supercenter in front of Lowe’s.
'Light the Night' in Maryland
Atlantic Financial FCU, Hunt Valley, Md., held numerous fundraising efforts, resulting in a donation of more than $9,000 in support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of MD’s Light The Night campaign.

Community service award
Clearview FCU, Moon Township, Pa., honored Marci Elsbury, winner of the CU’s 10th Annual Joseph C. Cirelli Community Service Award. Clearview made a $2,500 donation to Mantle House Mission, where Elsbury has volunteered since 2010.
Giving back to veterans
FreeStar Financial CU, Clinton Township, Mich., donated $2,800 to military charities in conjunction with the Veterans Administration’s home loan promotion. The program offers $200 to a military charity of the member’s choice when closing on a VA mortgage.
New digs for CU SoCal
Anaheim-based Credit Union of Southern California, with assistance from the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to introduce its new, full-service branch in Costa Mesa, Calif., located in the popular Costa Mesa Courtyards shopping center.
