MAX breaks ground

Montgomery, Ala.-based MAX CU held a ground-breaking ceremony at its new location at the corner of Ryan Road and Chantilly Parkway, featuring the latest in modern technology. The two-story location will serve as a branch and house departments such as wealth management and business services. Separately, MAX held its 15th annual Community Reception.

Winter wonderland

City & County CU, St. Paul, Minn., sponsored and sent a team of volunteers to Snow Park at the Fair, a free, family event that features a giant snow slide, snow sculpting competitions and a snow maze. During opening weekend, City & County team members braved the cold and volunteered at the Snow Park to help run the Snow Slide.

Help for those in need

Service One CU, Bowling Green, Ky., completed its donation drive to benefit HOTEL Inc. For two months, each Service One location collected personal hygiene supplies to be given to area homeless or families in need, bringing in 110 bars of soap, 87 razors, 74 toothbrushes, 42 tubes of toothpaste, and many other items such as body wash, laundry detergent and toilet paper.

Monthly fundraisers

Austin-based Greater Texas CU collected $1,664.85 for the Children’s Tumor Foundation through employee fundraising one day each month. With 19 branches across the state of Texas, employees choose a state-wide or national organization to receive Give Back funds.

Clothing drive

Members and staff of RTN FCU, Waltham, Mass., collected and donated more than 100 items of clothing and blankets through its participation in the Massachusetts Cooperative CU Association’s annual Clothing and Blanket Drive. RTN was one of the five credit unions that collected the most blankets.

Titanium-level support

Leadership Harrisburg Area welcomed PSECU, Harrisburg, Pa., as its first-ever Titanium Level Corporate Shareholder. With an annual financial pledge of $10,000 for a minimum of three consecutive years, Titanium is the highest level of support LHA acknowledges. It was designated as a shareholder level for the first time this year.

Member One set to expand

Roanoke, Va.-based Member One FCU will open a new, full-service retail center in South Roanoke in early 2019. It will be constructed at the site of the former Stephen’s restaurant on Franklin Road. Design of the building is being undertaken by Interactive Design Group of Roanoke, the architectural firm responsible for a number of Member One’s retail centers.

Making strides to end hunger

Bangor FCU, Bangor, Maine, placed third in the state for its efforts to benefit Ending Hunger in Maine. Fundraisers including a golf tournament, various raffles and a Skip-A-Payment donation program contributed to its total donation of $29,409.86.
