Young professionals support kids

Young Credit Union Professionals of Oregon and Southwest Washington held an event supporting Credit Unions for Kids. The group raised $5,900 that went to OHSU’s Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.

Nonprofit donation

Employees of TruStone Financial FCU, Plymouth, Minn., raised $6,000 for Perspectives, Inc. The local nonprofit provides a full range of human service programs to at-risk women and children, including providing housing to more than 75 women and 130 children annually.

Opening businesses and hearts

The staff and members of Hawaii Community FCU, Kailua Kona, and local businesses opened their hearts and raised a record $30,795 for the Food Basket, Hawaii Island’s Food Bank, during HCFCU’s annual “Market Day” events. This is the final year of the credit union’s “Triennial Social Responsibility” commitment with The Food Basket, which raised and donated more than $73,000 during a three-year partnership to help Hawaii Island’s hungry.

Donations for 60 years of service

Clackamas FCU, Milwaukie, Ore., made a series of donations to celebrate its 60th year of service to the people of Clackamas County. The CU made a $10,000 donation to Mt. Hood Search and Rescue Council, a $10,000 donation to Clackamas Service Center, and donations to numerous causes, including 60 five-packs of baby onesies to A Safe Place Family Justice Center.

Employees of Army Aviation Center FCU, Daleville, Ala., donated gifts for families and individuals in need by partnering with local organizations throughout its service areas.

Giving back to local charities

Employees of Arlington-based Texas Trust CU waived their usual holiday gift of turkeys and hams, allowing TTCU to donate $8,500 to three mission-oriented charities.

Optimists wanted

Scott CU, Edwardsville, Ill., donated $3,000 to the Highland Optimist Club for sponsorship of the annual Highland Basketball Shootout. This is the seventh year Scott CU served as the namesake sponsor of the showcase event.

Meals from the Heart dinner

Employees of Sperry FCU, Garden City Park, N.Y., participated in the Meals from the Heart dinner program at its local Ronald McDonald House for the third straight year. Each year Uncle Bacala’s donates a delicious tray of pasta to the cause, with the goal of creating a sense of community where families have one less thing to worry about and get support.

Ent 'Lives United'

Employees of Ent CU, Colorado Springs, Colo., raised $215,395 for the United Way during their annual fundraising campaign. Funds were raised through voluntary employee payroll deductions, internal fundraising activities and employee-led fundraising partnerships with local businesses.

Loans and donations

Dutch Point CU, Wethersfield, Conn., partnered with the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Foundation via a loan donation program. For every loan made, Dutch Point donated $5 to the foundation. The CU donated a total of $9,400.
