uGenius Launches SmartOFFICE Videoconferencing

uGenius Technology announced Tuesday that it launched a video banking platform designed to be connected to a large screen for customers seated around a table, rather than standing at a kiosk.

The Sandy, Utah banking kiosk maker said Conestoga Bank of Philadelphia is already using the tool in one of its new branches to initiate new accounts, close loans, and handle investments and mortgages.

"Our single biggest focus at Conestoga Bank is to provide our customers with the best possible customer service," said Richard A. Elko, Conestoga chief executive. "The uGenius SmartOFFICE solution is more than video conferencing, it allows us to provide the most convenient service possible while streamlining our sales. I think SmartOFFICE will help us maintain those high standards while still staying aligned with the company's bottom line."

In late January, ATM maker NCR bought a minority stake in uGenius. The two companies have previously collaborated on NCR's Aptra Interactive Teller, which was launched last year. At the time, NCR did not reveal the size of the investment.
