House Banking Committee Chairman Jim Leach Wednesday said he will hold three hearings on financial reform legislation beginning May 7.

Rep. Leach said the committee will vote on the legislation "shortly after" the hearings. The other two are scheduled for May 14 and 21.
Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin has been asked to testify on the Clinton administration's long-awaited financial modernization proposal. That plan is still being drafted.
Also slated to testify are financial industry regulators, trade groups, and academics.
