AisleBuyer Offers Card-Scanning App

AisleBuyer LLC, a Boston company, is selling mobile software that enables a consumer to scan an image of a payment card and use it to pay for in-store and online purchases.

The service, announced Wednesday, uses a smartphone's camera to scan a card and put the information into a form, which the customer can send for payment through the application, email or text message.

AisleBuyer said the software would help retailers speed the checkout process and enhance its other services that let consumers scan bar codes in stores to get product reviews and make purchases.

The ability to capture card information "can personalize and improve the customer experience," Andrew Paradise, the chief executive of AisleBuyer, said in a press release.
