Allpoint ATMs to Accept Check and Cash Deposits

Allpoint, the global surcharge-free ATM network operated by Cardtronics, will begin to accept check and cash deposits at more than 2,500 U.S. locations by the end of 2014.

Cardtronics is testing a system that will allow consumers to immediately view a check image or tally of cash denominations on the receipt after making an envelope-free deposit at an Allpoint ATM. The Houston-based company plans to roll out the feature in the fourth quarter, it says in a June 18 press release.

Until now the Allpoint network supported only cash withdrawals, and users will be able to determine which ATMs support deposits by using the online or mobile Allpoint ATM locator apps. The network consists of more than 55,000 ATMs in the United States, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom and Australia.

Cardtronics has steadily expanded its fleet through deals to purchase the ATM assets of companies such as CGI and Aptus Financial. It also recently renewed an ATM services contract with Walgreen Co.
