Amalgamated Financial hires next CEO

Amalgamated Financial in New York has a new leader.

The $6.4 billion-asset company said Priscilla Sims Brown will become its president and CEO on June 1.

Brown is group executive of marketing and corporate affairs for Commonwealth Bank in Australia. She has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Brown “is exactly what we need to take Amalgamated to its next stage, a highly experienced and inspirational leader whose vision aligns perfectly with ours,” Lynne Fox, Amalgamated’s chairman and interim president and CEO, said Tuesday in a press release.

“Her track record of success with major national and global financial institutions makes her uniquely qualified to take on this role at this important time in our bank’s history and in our society,” Fox added. “We believe [her] experience and track record building and growing leading brands in the financial services sector will accelerate our growth strategy and expand our reach.”

Fox has been leading the company on an interim basis since Keith Mestrich stepped down in late January.
