Amazon.com Inc. has launched its Checkout by Amazon payments service in Germany.

The service allows online shoppers to use payment information stored with Amazon.com when shopping at other retailers' websites. One of the first merchants to go live with the service in Germany is Thomann Cyberstore, an online musical instruments vendor. "Customers can simply choose the delivery addresses and bank information from their Amazon account and Thomann will handle the rest," Sven Schoderbock, Thomann Cyberstore's head of marketing, said on Amazon.com's payments blog Wednesday. "It's as easy as it sounds."

Christine Maier, the online marketing manager for HOH Home of Hardware, another Amazon client, said that "working with Checkout by Amazon … will also attract new customers."

Before going live in Germany, Checkout by Amazon most recently expanded to the U.K., where it went live at the end of March.
