American Century Investment Services Inc. hired Joseph Gotelli as a portfolio manager in its fixed-income group.

He will co-manage the Kansas City, Mo., asset manager's California Tax-Free Bond with Alan Kruss and Steven Permut.
Mr. Gotelli, 29, was an assistant portfolio manager for six years at Franklin Templeton Investments, where he managed several long- and short-term municipal bond portfolios.
He also oversaw the day-to-day management of tax-exempt money market fund assets.
American Century announced the hiring last week.
