DENVER -- The America public seems more willing to tamper with the design of U.S. currency than to eliminate the one-cent coin.

In the third annual survey on coins and currency sponsored by the Plus System automated teller network, seven out of 10 favored continued use of the penny. As the government is begin ning to incorporate new security features in currency design, 29% suggested putting new faces on currency. The most popular choices within this group were John F. Kennedy (20%) and Bill Clinton (15%). But 92% of the 1,006 respondents supported keeping the "In God We Trust" motto, in use since 1957.
