AmericanWest Names Local President Following Oregon Deal

AmericanWest Bank in Spokane, Wash., has promoted an insider to oversee its expansion into Oregon and northern California.

The $3.8 billion-asset company announced late Tuesday that Michael Koch has been named as local bank president in those markets.

Koch has been with AmericanWest since 2005 and most recently served as the company's executive vice president of credit support services. He is also a graduate of Pacific Coast Banking School.

"Mike is one of our very best — a highly skilled banker with a history of actively engaging employees and the community," Scott Kisting, chairman and chief executive of AmericanWest, said in a press release. "His first priority is getting to know the employees and customers throughout the region."

Koch's promotion was tied to the company's acquisition of the $1.2 billion-asset PremierWest Bancorp (PRWT) in Medford, Ore., The company announced the closing of that transaction in the same release.
