Amex Unit Offers Help With Travel Expenses

American Express Co. said Thursday that it has created a research unit, eXpert insights, to help customers of its Express Business Travel unit manage the costs of employees' business trips.

The operation is part of the New York financial company's global advisory services unit.

The subscription service will tap Amex's extensive database of travel and expense data to help users cut their travel budgets.

"In the current economic environment, it is critical for companies to have access to timely data and resources to arm them with the knowledge and guidance they need to make the right travel management decisions," Christa Manning, who has been named director of the new unit, said in a press release.
