BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- AmSouth Bank, the lead subsidiary of AmSouth Bancorp., said it has completed its conversion to a state charter from a national one.
The institution, which changed its official name to AmSouth Bank of Alabama from AmSouth Bank N.A., remains a Federal Reserve System member.
AmSouth Bancorp.'s other banks in Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia are state-chartered. The company said the change in Alabama will improve efficiency and consistency in meeting regulatory requirements.
