West Coast Bancorp of Lake Oswego, Ore., has agreed to put Coinstar Inc.'s coin-counting kiosks in 10 Northwest branches.
Coinstar, of Bellevue, Wash., said last week that West Coast will be the first banking company in the region to use the Madison kiosk it unveiled last year for financial institutions. The kiosks will begin operating in West Coast's branches this month, Coinstar said.
Users can receive a voucher that can be redeemed for cash at a teller window, or for gift certificates from retailers such as Amazon.com Inc. or Apple Inc.'s iTunes online music store. Users can also donate their coins to a nonprofit organization.
West Coast will not charge its customers for using the kiosks.
Starting in June, Coinstar's kiosks also will let people deposit coins and have them credited to their bank accounts, using First Data Corp.'s Star network.
