B of A considers a branch in northern China.

GUANGZHOU, China - Bank of America is interested in opening a branch in northern China, chief executive Richard Rosenberg said.

"At the appropriate time, we would be very interested in a full-service branch in the northern part of China," he said at a news conference after opening the BankAmerica Corp. unit's second branch in China in the southern city of Guangzhou.

The bank's area general, manager, Harry Garschagen, said that Dalian or Tianjin were "cities that come to mind."
