Bancinsurance Founder Sokol Dies

Bancinsurance Corp., announced Thursday that Si Sokol, its founder and former chairman and chief executive officer, died Tuesday.

Mr. Sokol, 79, retired from the company last week and was replaced by his son, John, as chairman and chief executive officer.

Mr. Sokol began his professional career at the Sokol Insurance Agency, co-founded the Beverlee Drive-In restaurant chain, and then established his own company, Si Sokol & Associates, specializing in community bank mergers and acquisitions.

He launched Bancinsurance in 1970 and served as its Chairman. In 1980, he became chief executive officer.

Bancinsurance is based in Columbus, Ohio.
