Bancorp of New Jersey Names Successor After CEO's Death

Albert Buzzetti, founding chairman and chief executive at Bancorp of New Jersey (BKJ) in Fort Lee, has died.

Buzzetti, 73, passed away on Dec. 13, the company said Thursday. He had led the company since its formation in 2006.

The company said that Michael Lesler had succeeded Buzzetti as CEO. Lesler, 42, has been an officer of the $586 million-asset company since its creation, serving as president and chief operating officer since 2009.

Prior to forming Bancorp of New Jersey, Buzzetti was the CEO and president of Bridge View Bancorp, which sold itself to Interchange Financial Services in 2003, according to regulatory filings.

"Lesler's performance as president demonstrated to the board that he is well qualified for his new position and for leading Bank of New Jersey forward," the company said in a press release.

The board also tapped Richard Capone to become the CFO of the company's bank. Capone had been the bank's controller since 2009.
