BancTexas Group Inc.

BANCTEXAS GROUP Inc., Dallas, said that its chief executive oficer, Nathan C. Collins, will take early retirement on Jan. 2. in order to spend more time with his family and pursue personal interests.

He will retire from his positions as chairman, president, and CEO of both BancTexas Group and its bank unit, Bank-Texas.

David F. Weaver has been elected president of the bank unit.

Mr. Weaver has been a regional president of the bank since the spring of 1988, supervising operations in the greater Houston area.

James F. Dierberg will take over Mr. Collins' positions at the holding company. Mr. Dierberg is chairman and chief executive of First Banks Inc., St. Louis, which bought a controlling interest in BancTexas Group in August.
