Bank of America offers flood relief to customers.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Bank of America is extending flood relief to its MasterCard and Visa customers in the Midwest.

The California-based bank, the nation's fourth largest in card outstandings, invited calls to two toll-free numbers -- one for people requesting a credit line increase, the other for those seeking to skip a monthly payment.

"We're eager to do what we can to assist in the recovery process for our customers who may have been affected by these floods," said executive vice president Robert D. Sznewajs, manager of the credit card division.

Aug. 19 Deadline

Customers living in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin are eligible. They have until Aug. 19 to apply.

Also eligible to skip monthly installments are Security Pacific Financial Services customers who have mobile home, home equity, executive-professional, or consumer loans.
