Bank One Unit, E-Mail Firm in Marketing Alliance

Juno Online Services Inc. and WingspanBank.com, the Internet bank subsidiary of Bank One Corp., announced a five-year marketing alliance Tuesday.

The arrangement was originally made with Bank One's First USA credit card subsidiary, which runs the month-old WingspanBank.com. It gives WingspanBank.com exclusive rights to market credit cards and a select set of banking services to Juno's seven million electronic mail subscribers.

Targeted Juno subscribers will be able to complete and submit applications for WingspanBank.com products and services over Juno's proprietary network.

Bank One has been a big proponent of marketing deals with Internet portals. Recently, WingspanBank.com signed a multiyear cobranding agreement with Lycos Inc. worth up to $135 million. First USA is paying Microsoft Network $90 million and America Online up to $500 million for five-year credit card marketing deals. And Bank One itself is paying Excite Inc. up to $125 million to operate an exclusive banking center on its site.
